    Hello👋, thank you for sharing this video. We are trying IEW for the first time this year. I am interested in TWSS as well. Can a person complete TWSS using the binder only? Just wondering, if it possible to complete without the TWSS DVDS.

    The binding last year kept unraveling on me, so I had to take it completely apart. I loved the old version of the binding much better. Ordered mine today!!!

    My current favorite is GuestHollow for Science and History. I have used Bibliopan, MoH, Notgrass, SoTW and I am sure something else…… we have bounced between straight homeschool and a hybrid a few years ago which also is the reason for so many different ones. I think I may try Generations for Bible though just to do something from them as it looks great.

    I am right with you in this thinking. This was the second webinar I watched with Generations about the literature we read. I did the same thing you did after the webinar - I started adjusting my literature plans. My husband thought I was crazy for going through and pulling the books off my shelves. He said they are classics and that I shouldn't get rid of them. Then I discussed the webinar with him and he understood. I was a teacher too and was under the belief that "classic" meant the best and should be read. I am now processing a new belief structure about literature.

    I got this course ... and didn't start till after my boys had already finished a year of IEW! 🤦🏻 (My oldest did SSS 1A and my youngest started the Bible (book only course) halfway through the year. I definitely watched all the videos with my oldest and used that base knowledge to help my son with his course.) When I started the course, my son said, "You should have watched this BEFORE we started!! Now do you understand?" 😂 This course is answering a lot questions that came up over the year so I'm glad I'm taking it now. (I still have some lessons left.) I would definitely recommend this course too.

    We love Generations so much. You introduced us to them and they’re amazing. Even my parents have picked them up and mentioned how much they’ve enjoyed flipping through them. I really want to love Notgrass but for some reason the sentences bother me. Seems like in every book it’s simple sentence after simple sentence and that’s so picky but for some reason it just gets really repetitive and I get bored reading them to my kids. Maybe it’s just in the younger grade due to reading levels? I’m not sure…

    I just bought Generations History level 2. My plan as of now is to stick with Generations until late middle school or high school 9th and go with Notgrass. I do have a question about The Good and Beautiful. I am actually using their language arts not history. I know it is advertised as a Christian curriculum where are the Creator is from the L DS community and the writers are of many different religions. I was just wondering what you knew about the company that I might not know? What are some of the reasons that you choose not to use it? I appreciate your advice so that's why I'm asking about this.

      She has some good videos talking about how she chooses curriculum - worldview is a big factor she looks into if I recall. And what happens when the people behind the curriculum are say LDS or other worldviews it leaks into the curriculum they design.

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz 6 дней назад

      Yup. There will be people defending TGTB on your comment, no doubt. It’s their choice to use whatever they wish and that’s totally fine. I don’t tell people what they should or shouldn’t use, rather, I show what we use. Worldview is huge for my family. Where the money goes after we purchase is also a big factor. Generations lines up with our values and is a God honoring company what we enjoy, so it was an easy decision for us.

    For me, this awareness began in teaching pre-K and kindergarten. There were a number of fairy tales and nursery rhymes that I simply would not even touch. These were “the classics”. But these stories were filled with Gnosticism and occult underpinnings. Watch what we feed our children. It is our responsibility to safeguard them and fill their minds with what is pure and holy.

    I am so glad we discovered generations curriculum. We discovered it part way through last year and started using it right away. Now this coming year my son will be using the 9th grade, my middle son will be using first grade which he has already started in the and is loving, and my youngest son will be using kindergarten as soon as it arrives. My eldest and only girl is in 12th grade and she already has all the credits she needs to graduate. So we're just going to do a literature study for one semester before she turns 18 and graduates so sadly no complete generations 12th grade for her

I went to the doctor and they checked my blood and said I was OK, but after seeing a functional medicine doctor she told me that I was heading towards an auto immune disease and she is helping me so much. If you have someone who practices functional medicine close to you who is reasonable I highly recommend looking into them. Also Jordan Page just shared about how she went into remission from an auto immune disease using functional medicine and her video is on RUclips. ruclips.net/video/yras-ZzXqOY/видео.htmlsi=C4SmBLVikVN57-95

    I agree we should always discern what we read to our children. I love Charlotte Mason's philosophy of approaching reading in living books, and educating not just the mind but the whole person. But as for the book Apostate, Im sure the writer had good intentions and calls out some very bad writers, but I dont agree that he includes Thomas Aquinas in this list. He was a Christian Theologian, a Saint, a Dominican friar, a humble servant of God. His works are beloved throughout Christian history and reveal beautiful truths of virtue and have helped people seek God. Just because the writer doesnt agree with Aquina's philosophy doesnt make his analysis correct, and it certainly doesnt make Aquinas a bad writer. This is purely his point of view.

    I recently found out that I. Shakespeare’s time writers were not allowed to write about Christ and Christianity. It was considered wrong to fictionalize the Christ which is why his works have other false things in them. I make sure to see view the historical point of view when analyzing literature. I have not listened to the podcast yet though just adding an interesting tidbit.

      I don’t think Shakespeare would have wrote about God even if he was allowed to. After reading about his life…that was the furthest thing from his mind.

    Logos Press also had a series of classics called “Worldview Edition”. I think it’s the same concept.
